Stairs & Bathroom Make Over

Hello My Lovelies…

First off, apologies on the downtime of this blog (around 3 months), time kind of got away from me and now I’m so far behind on showing you the changes of the house!

The house is now all finished (with finishing touches to be added), with our downstairs bathroom and stairs being the last two places in the house that needed changing. Keep scrolling for pictures and descriptions…

The Stairs

So with 6 animals, our carpets have taken a battering, and the stairs were no different. The stairs are the place where all the animals like to sleep/sit/pull at the carpet, I think it’s because they can see every room from there.

We really needed to freshen them up a bit, we visited our local Carpet Wright and looked at quotes for a stairs runner, they quoted us ยฃ400 – ยฃ500. That was so much more than what we wanted to pay. So we searched online and I found the Carpet Runners UK website, found the one that we liked and paid ยฃ80, including underlay, stair clips, and delivery! A real saving and I would recommend them to anyone, delivery was really quick and the quality of the runner is top class.

Mr T then, very kindly, glossed the stairs because I shouldn’t be trusted with a paint brush and gloss… it would be a nightmare scenario. Also our black cat Darwin managed to step in the wet gloss and got it EVERYWHERE – there were white pawprints on the concrete tiles outside for weeks *rolls eyes* but thems the hazards of having pets…

Anyway, here are the pictures of the stairs…
After we took the carpet off and before we started…

After we put the underlay down, including the cat paw prints, Mr T decided to use the staple gun rather than the rods as it was easier. He also stapled the runner down

Here is the final product…

I’m so happy with how it’s turned out, and it is a million times easier to keep clean! A win-win on the stairs ๐Ÿ™‚

Downstairs Bathroom

There wasn’t anything really wrong with our downstairs bathroom in the first place but was very bland and as you’ve guessed from the rest of my house, bland is not my style. I like quirky and colour. So I scoured my favourite website (Amazon obviously) and found a beautiful blue butterfly wallpaper and I knew it would be perfect, so I bought 3 rolls to make sure. I then decided to paint the rest of the walls not wallpapered in the Dulux, Natural Hessian we used for the living room, it’s a warming colour that wouldn’t over power the room.

I then searched for copper accessories to set it off just right, purchasing 2 copper coloured candles, a copper mirror, a cute little ‘home sweet home’ sign with copper framing and a copper basket for the toilet roll, as well as a very cute copper coloured reindeer ring holder, which I’m using as an ornament. And believe it or not, the most expensive thing to buy was the copper basket at ยฃ20. The mirror was only ยฃ8 and the sign was also under ยฃ10, which is surprising as they still look lovely!

And here are the images of the final room, including finishing touches…

And that my beautiful readers is the transformation of my stairs and downstairs bathroom, which concludes the transformation of the house. Which is sad, I need more rooms! There has been some talk about re-decorating the spare room again – so watch this space… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for Reading My Beauties! It wont be so long next time!
